For some people, adjusting to life with a stoma can be overwhelming, but remember you are not alone. If having a stoma has negatively affected your self-confidence, your relationships or your ability to work or get on with life in the way you used to – help is just a phone call away.
You may find it difficult to talk openly to family members about your stoma, worried about distressing them or may even be embarrassed talking about it. Our team of Stoma Counsellors are experts in their field and happy to support you. They provide a confidential, caring service and are great listeners.
Sylvia found it difficult to come to terms with her stoma after colostomy surgery and so she decided to reach out to a ConvaTec me+™ counsellor. Now 12 months on she is back to doing the “normal things” like going out to eat with friends and doing her own shopping.
You can request counselling support by contacting the Nurse Advisor in the first instance, she will make a note of your details and provide you with a consent form to complete. Our counsellors will then contact you to arrange your appointment.
